Five tips for healthy lungs

In the prevention and care of your health, few people think of their lungs. It is an extremely important organ. Its damage is even the third most common cause of death. How to properly care for your lungs?

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, lung cancer - these are just some of the serious lung diseases. Unhealthy habits can increase significantly the likelihood of developing these diseases. The lungs also age, as well as hearts, joints and other parts of the body. They are no longer so flexible, breathing can be more difficult. Observing certain habits can maintain optimal lung function even in older age. Care is important in full health, but especially when some lung disease has already occurred. What measures do they benefit from?

1. Avoid tobacco smoke

Tobacco smoke contains thousands of chemicals that get into the lungs by inhalation. Avoid smoky areas, and if you smoke, try to stop . Not only does tobacco consumption increase the risk of lung cancer, but is also associated with an overwhelming majority of lung disease. It has a significant share of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and asthma. For smokers, these diseases also occur more severely. For example, COPD smokers are 12-13 times more likely to succumb to this disease.

2. Practice regularly

For lung health, perhaps the most important move is to avoid tobacco smoke. Aerobic activities train the lungs the most - they need to transport oxygen more effectively to the muscles. The frequency of breathing increases from about 15 breaths per minute to 40-60. The auxiliary inter-respiratory muscles are also strengthened. Thanks to exercise, your lungs will be strong and healthy, which will help them better withstand diseases and aging. Motion also slows the development of lung disease.

3. Do not dwell in polluted air

Whether it's the bad air out there or the often worse indoor environment, both can damage the lungs and accelerate their aging. In addition, the older the body is, the lower its ability to resist toxic substances and infections. So try to limit your stay in the unhealthy environment to a minimum. How do you achieve this?
Do not move near major traffic routes, cycling, or running beside the busy road, health is not very good.
If exposed to impurities in the air during working hours, you should use the protective equipment supplied by the employer.
Rinse and wipe dust at least once a week. Small particles of dirt floating in the air easily get into the lungs.
Wind up regularly.
If you have to use irritating chemicals (for example, for cleaning), ensure adequate ventilation.

4. Prevent infectious diseases

Infections are particularly susceptible to those who suffer from lung disease or have already reached an older age. For these groups of people, especially pneumonia is very dangerous. The best way to prevent respiratory infections is to take care of hygiene. Maintaining clean hands has a great merit. Do not forget to wash your hands after using the toilet, after coming home, to work, before eating. Drink plenty of water and eat fruits and vegetables to boost your immunity. You may also consider the possibility of vaccination.

5. Breathe deeply

A great deal of people are breathing shallowly with their chest. Deep breathing makes better use of the diaphragm, lifting the stomach and changing the air in the lungs. Try a simple exercise. Sit in a quiet place, inhale with your nose and count to 4. Then breathe in your mouth and count to 8. Breathing deep and breathing exercises can increase lung capacity.

Complying with the above five principles will benefit both healthy people and those with lung disease. They help prevent unnecessary health ailments and slow down lung aging.
