Spend a great wine in South Tyrol

The Roter Hahn Farm Association offers a unique holiday for all wine lovers. You can go through the vineyards to learn about the processing and production of wine by local farmers.

South Tyrol is an important wine region even though it has about 5,000 hectares of vineyards. Grape vines are especially successful here due to great climatic conditions. Up to 300 sunny days a year and warm Mediterranean streams guarantee quality and tasty wines. It is grown on 20 varieties - the most important varieties are Vernatsch, Gewürztraminer and Lagrein. There are about 380 farms on offer to tourists with wineries. Of these, 160 of them produce their own wine. Just choose one of the winemaking farms and see for yourself how this wine is actually produced.

In addition to the beautiful views of the vineyards, you can enjoy wine tastings, as well as homemade products like marmalades, cheeses, milk and many other delicacies. All year round in South Tyrol you will enjoy accommodation in beautiful suites or rooms in a friendly family environment. Thanks to local farmers, you will enjoy an authentic holiday on the farm, try out various farm work and experience the real rural atmosphere.

There are also various events such as Blauburgunder's Wine Days . In the municipalities of Neumarkt and Montan you will participate in the wine tasting of this very French variety Blauburgunder. If you are choosing which farm you would like to visit, you can choose from several wine-producing properties such as Weingut Niklaserhof, Weinberghof or Rielinger-Hof.

Until June 9th you have the chance to take part in the Jihotyrolské Wine Trail event . This wine festival hosts 15 wine villages, which are situated just along the wine trail. There are wine tastings, seminars, breakfast with a sect, all accompanied by cultural and culinary events. If you come to the ceremony, you can take part in the so-called Nobility of the Cellars, where all small and large winemakers open their cellars for one night for visitors.

Roter Hahn offers not only the South Tyrol Wine Trails Weeks and the Soup Recipe

Wine soup

Have you brought home a lot of bottles of wine from your holiday and want to try something unusual? We bring you a recipe for this South Tyrolean delicacy, which you can cook in the comfort of your home.

Ingredients

100 ml of whipped cream
3 egg yolks
1/4 l of meat broth
1/8 white wine (Gewürztraminer, Weißburgunder)
a pinch of nutmeg
on the tip of the cinnamon blade
pinch of salt

Procedure
Preparing a soup is not too demanding and you can handle it without difficulty. Just mix the cream with egg yolk, add the meat broth, white wine and start slowly warming up. It is important that the soup does not cook, otherwise the yolk collapses. Once it has a cream-foam consistency, it is cooked with nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. After that, you can only make croutons of toast bread and sprinkle with cinnamon for dressing. And it is done!
