Exhibition at Prague Zoo: Worrying and fascinating scorpions

Prague Zoo presents a unique collection of scorpions. Come and see that they are unique creatures with extremely interesting abilities and life experiences. A collection of 40 species of scorpions can be seen from Saturday, March 10th to Sunday, May 27th, 2018, at the Gallery in Gočar's Houses.

On the eve of Saturday, an exhibition was opened at Gočar's Houses, which offers a varied collection of 40 species of scorpions. Representatives of the largest scorpions of up to 20 centimeters in length are represented, scorpions smaller to small, such as the three-crowned scree. Visitors can also look forward to the scorpion's death scorpion, scorpion scoundrel, or fearsome scorpion thistle, which has the highest number of human deaths, according to statistics.

"With the introduction of forty species of scorpions we build on the exceptionally successful last year's exhibition of goblins," says Miroslav Bobek, Director of the Prague Zoo, and continues: "In the future, we want to devote more attention to invertebrates, both in permanent expositions and exhibitions. This year we are planning not only another show of goblins, but also achatin. "

Throughout the exhibition, visitors will be presented with her guided tours, presentation of scorpions every Sunday and, between 14:00 and 15:00, demonstrations of their feeding. People learn many interesting things about their lives, such as the fact that most species do not need to be afraid. "Most species are shy and the poison is used exclusively to chase the prey. He tries to escape or hide from danger, and the use of poison spike is the last variant of defense, " co-exhibitor Vít Lukáš explained.
