Dried nutrition for toddlers from the point of view of undesirable substances

When a toddler has a thirst, she can drive her out with a drink of powdered and warm water. While in the first year of life breast milk or its replacement is a necessity, since a year, a toddler without a dairy alternative can get around.

Instant milk nutrition intended for children over one year of age has been subjected to testing by the consumer magazine dTest for the presence of hazardous substances. Laboratory tests have revealed that the consumption of some products may exceed the tolerable daily dose of undesirable MCPD compounds .

The objective of dTest was to assess nutrition toddlers in terms of the presence of undesirable substances, not their nutritional suitability. "We bought a total of eleven dry mixes in drugstores and found out, for example, whether they contained monochloropropanediols (MCPD), cadmium or lead. Unfortunately, not all tested products would, under certain conditions, meet the recommended MCPD content that can be produced in the production and processing of vegetable oils, " says Hana Hoffmann, editor-in-chief of dTest.

Monochloropropanediols are considered to be carcinogens, and the European Food Safety Authority came up with a scientific opinion last year that a tolerable daily MCPD dose of 0.8 micrograms per kilogram of body weight is acceptable. "We measured them in the dry powder fat, and then we counted the daily dose of nutrition for the nine-pound toddler as recommended on the package. In this test, Bebivita Kindermilch 1 and Hero Sunar Complex 3 were fed because their recommended dosage would exceed the tolerable daily dose of MCPD. We can recommend parents to consider whether it is necessary to regularly feed dried infants. Independent pediatricians agree that high-quality full-fat pasteurized cow's milk is sufficient for toddlers along with a varied diet, " comments Hana Hoffmann.

Contrary to the recommended nature of the MCPD daily intake limit, the maximum levels for lead and cadmium in food are set by European Regulation 1881/2006. The good news is that the amount of cadmium was lower than the legal limit for all dried foods. With lead, the findings were higher than zero, but with no exceedance of the legislative limit, there was no problem with any of the products.

What Does Dried Milk Nutrition For Toddlers? It is a blend of processed cow's milk, vegetable oils, minerals, vitamins, probiotics, prebiotics, trace elements and other substances that benefit the baby's body. Nutrition of young children requires diversity and balance. The toddler is so optimally diverse and interesting in terms of meal modification, texture and consistency or appearance. Experts warn about exclusive slurry diet that the children do not learn to bite and accept new ways of eating. Dining room should include dairy products, meat, fish, poultry, eggs, legumes, cereals, fruits and vegetables. Milk is recommended after 1 year of age in an amount of up to 300-330 ml daily, after 2 years of age at least 125 ml per day.

The full test results were delivered by the October issue of dTest.
