Disease from ticks know, but we neglect prevention

Prague people are afraid klíšťovky, especially vaccinate children and vaccines, we learn from television. This is shown by the results of new research, plus the fact that circulate in the population of tick-borne encephalitis are still many myths. S on prevention also not the best, the vaccination is only one fifth of the nation.

Let us even now vaccination: an accelerated vaccination schedule can make it very fast!

Parasites on the prowl

Year 2013 was the occurrence of tick-borne encephalitis "average" in our country sickened a total of 625 individuals. However, this is a relatively high number. For example - this is a two-fold higher incidence compared to the dreaded Hepatitis A. I now, in early spring, we still live in the mistaken belief that ticks still resting. The opposite is true, however, doctors have reported the first case of the disease in 2014. And this is the beginning of a major tick season is far away.

The risk we know, but ...

I'm sure you are wondering, what were the other findings of the above mentioned research. For starters, we can say that the situation after four years since the last poll of the citizens has not changed much. Awareness of the risk of diseases associated with ticks is fairly decent, but prevention are in bad shape.

Nearly three quarters of our population is associated with the disease ticks tick-borne encephalitis and Lyme borreliosis.
Klíšťovky is particularly fearful residents of the North Moravian region, while in Prague, Central and South Bohemian Region, the risk of this disease do not fear too.
Prague but, paradoxically, one of the regions with the highest risk of the disease, due to the frequent residence of its population in the Central and Southern regions.
Most respondents correctly identified the vaccination as an effective prevention against tick-borne encephalitis, on the other hand, have received only one-fifth!
Compared to the previous survey, more people learns about the vaccination clinics at their general practitioners.
Overall awareness of the opportunities vaccination improved, mainly due to the ads on television.

Who does not want a reason to find

Most vaccinated find in Prague, Central Bohemia, South Bohemia and North Moravia, the areas of highest risk of tick-borne encephalitis.
The prevention indulge especially the youngest and oldest members of the household.
The most commonly used vaccine is still TicoVac from Baxter.
Many respondents, however, do not go to a regular booster their immunity against klíšťovce is so very weak or no.
In addition, the population is still circulating myth that vaccination should not be performed at certain times of the year! They think that half of all respondents.
The vaccination will catch us most fear of contagion.
Only 3% of people have had problems after the injection, the most common hand pain at the injection site, which may be due to an incautious handling of the needle.
Citizens frequently refuse vaccination because they go a little into nature or due to the cost of the vaccine.

Although the threat of tick-borne encephalitis know, we run unnecessary risks and defend vaccination. Arguments why this is so, are sometimes really funny. They also include miraculous innate immunity against ticks or that vaccination takes up too much time.
