Allergy do not underestimate! He can unleash an unpleasant headache

Headaches due to hypersensitivity suffer from many people. They can help with drugs, but also with proper prevention. Sometimes this difficulty has to be explored in more detail - because of a possible more serious illness. However, this problem can always be solved.

Allergic headache is described as a problem that occurs after clinical hypersensitivity and is shown to be caused by a specific allergen. Pain can only last for a short time, but also for days - depending on the intensity of the allergen. Speeches are very variable and determine allergy as the cause of pain is not a simple task.

The head and half of the head suffer

Generally, two types of headache - migraine and sinus headaches - are associated with allergies.
Sinus pains.
This is a problem localized in the area of the sinuses. These cavities are located on both sides in the bones of our face on the forehead and behind the eyes. If inflammation develops in these places, swelling of the mucosa and accumulation of secretion in the cavities will occur. This is manifested by rhinitis and pain that can spread to the entire face, possibly to the jaw and tooth.
Migraines. Strenuous, often unilateral headaches can also be aggravated by light. They are often accompanied by nausea or vomiting.

Find your starter

For everyone, the allergen and stimulus to develop pain can be different. The most common ones are:
Swelling of the nasal sinuses with a feeling of pressure and fullness in the cheeks or forehead,
stress,
dust,
Pollen,
Certain foods (often popular, such as dairy products),
smoking,
Food additives (they are in most packaged products and cheeses, commonly sodium-glutamate, tyramine and many others),
Food chemicals and preservatives (sweeteners, alcohol or chocolate).

Often, prevention will help

In most cases, if this is not a serious illness, allergic headaches can be avoided. For all types of pain it is necessary to identify the trigger and then avoid it. Focus on both outdoor and domestic allergens. Try closing windows, often rubbing, making special bedding, or using sunglasses to prevent the allergen getting into your eyes. Do not forget about your pets - they are often the cause of trouble.

3 steps to relieve pain

In addition, any pain can be relieved without medication:
Take care of the hydration - enough fluids can help dilute the mucus in the cavities, which then drains and does not irritate better.
Inhale steam - Try it several times a day, for example in the shower.
Apply a warm wrap to the forehead for better mucus removal.
You can also try analgesics such as ibuprofen or paracetamol. But they only provide short-term relief.

When to find an expert

If the pain is repeated or worsening more often, seek help from the allergologist. However, your GP should have excluded other causes of headaches. The consultant will evaluate all the manifestations of your allergy during the consultation and help you determine exactly which stimulus (allergen) is causing the problem. He will then be able to prescribe the most appropriate treatment for you. This often includes antihistamines and oral and nasal decongestants (mucosal swelling substances in the sinus headache).
