"We recognize the jury's special recognition as a portrait of a teacher who abuses his pupils and their parents. A realistic view of society in this film forces us to think about ways to confront conflicts and injustices in different political systems so that we live our lives with dignity, " said SIGNUS Jury in Hong Kong. The festival in Honkong has five competition sections, the main one being chaired by Polish director Agnieszka Holland. The teacher was listed in the "Auteurs" section.
Hřebejkova Teacher has gone from her premiere at last year's Karlovy Vary festival, where Zuzana Mauréry won the Crystal Globe for Best Female Actress, a number of major festivals including the prestigious American show in Palm Springs. It has been seen by more than twenty film festivals and has also been featured by foreign film critics, including Variety, and is also exceptional in foreign cinemas.
