Do you wash dishes in your hand? Take better gloves

More than a third of domestic households own a dishwasher, but the handwash is sometimes bought by everyone. Sometimes it's time to dip your hands into a fumed sink due to heavily polluted or delicate dishes. The consumer magazine dTest independently tested a total of 18 dishwashers. In addition to the traditional means, there were also special means for washing children's bottles and the environmentally friendly ones.

Large differences between brands are in the efficiency and economy of washing.
The market for hand dishwashing products is relatively large not only for total sales but also for the number of products and brands. dTest sent products to the laboratory for which the Czechs spent the most money in the retail trade between November 2016 and October 2017. "We also added two of the German market to 16 agents from the list of best-selling products," says Hana Hoffmann, Editor-in-Chief of the dTest magazine. All 18 products underwent a laboratory efficacy test, underwent an efficacy assessment of the washing and an assessment of the list of ingredients contained in the labels.

Why is it better to wash dishes in gloves? "The detergents often contain contact allergens that could cause skin irritation in sensitive people. In 15 cases manufacturers used potentially allergenic preservatives methylisothiazolinone and benzisothiazolinone. Only Ecover, Frosch and Nuk went without them. These were preserved by other substances, for example, milder lactic acid. Allergenic perfumes, such as limonene or geraniol, were found in 11 products, " says Hana Hoffmann. Without any allergenic perfumes, Feel Eco Washing Up Liquid, Real Green Clean Utensils, Jar Platinum Lemon & Lime, and Frosch Dish Balsam Citrus.

How did washing skills test? Experimental 14 cm diameter dishes were dirty with a blue dyed blend containing mainly fats, dried milk and flour. In the sink with five liters of hot water, the lab dispensed so much to make a stable, demandingly high foam hat. In this bath, the laboratory workers subsequently washed standardized soils until the blue water of the water appeared in the foam. The drop of foam covers showed the loss of active detergents in the bath. The distinctive color of the blend, on the one hand, helped to recognize that the saucer was thoroughly washed and also highlighted the cracks in the foam layer. Dishes were washed without sponge and cloth.

The laboratory test of washing capabilities revealed surprising differences between products. Some resources are 20 times more effective in removing dirt than their competitors. As a sovereign champion, Real Green Clean Utensils proved to be able to wash 60 cups. Feel eco Washing Up Liquid with 57 washed saucers behind him. The three products did not even cross the 10-plate boundary, with Green Line Aloe Vera being able to handle only three saucers in the experiment.
How many dishes are washed with half a liter of detergent? dTest calculated how many plates can be washed with 500 ml of the product. After recalculation, the Spülmittel Ultra denkmit from the drogerie dm, whose 500ml bottle would be enough to wash 9750 labels, proved to be the most economical. Economy was a weak spot in Real Green Clean. It has shown extraordinary washing efficiency, but it has been redeemed at high doses. As a result, 500 ml of Real Green Clean Utensils are sufficient for only 2400 plates. The worst was the calculations for the product ah Basic Washing Up Liquid - private brands of the Albert chain. Half a liter would not have reached more than 563 plates despite the relatively economical dosing.

Sometimes manufacturers are supplying drugstores of different composition, but under the same designation or trademark, to the countries of the European Union. On the example of Henkel and W5 Purl-Pril Czech-German pairs of the Lidl chain, the two-fold quality of detergent has not been proven. The results of both Czech and German products were balanced. The required dosing was in all cases the same and the washing efficiency was virtually unchanged. The main difference was the price, the purchase in Germany was cheaper.
You can find a list of tested dishes on the web . Full test results were provided by the March issue of the dTest magazine, and subscribers are also available on the magazine website.
