Seven new crashtests - Škoda Karoq was successful

Euro NCAP, which has been testing the safety of new cars for 20 years, today released new crash test results for Citroën C3 Aircross, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, Opel Crossland X, Skoda Karoq, Volvo XC60, Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen T-Roc. All seven cars took the maximum number of stars from a series of demanding tests.

"Long-term cooperation with Euro NCAP allows us to participate in the improvement of the tests and to be among the first to know their results. The Czech drivers of this year's cars are probably the most interested model of Karoq in Mladá Boleslav, the successor of the popular Škoda Yeti. This compact SUV in the tests has led to quite a few mistakes, " comments Hana Hoffmann, editor-in-chief of the dTest magazine.

Adult protection Škoda Karoq ranks high above the average, gaining 93%. The highest number of points collected to protect the neck from a rear impact. With frontal impact across the width of the car, both driver and passenger protection was good or satisfactory. The exception was the passenger's chest in the rear seat, which was protected on average. In the side impact test, Škoda Karoq ran first, in a more demanding lateral collision test, the bug found - the chest was "only" acceptable.

Also, Karoqu's protection is child-friendly. The highest number of points gained for the side impact test. "But in the event of a frontal collapse, the experts found weak protection of the chest of a six-year-old child. The results of pedestrian protection tests have gone well, however, the individual parts of the front of the car have collected significantly different results. While foot protection is excellent, in the case of the pelvis, unsatisfactory values ​​have been found at several points of the bumper. The Karoq merit deserves the functionality of active safety systems, particularly autonomous emergency braking, " summarizes Hana Hoffmann's findings.

In the current tests, the Volkswagen Polo and the Volkswagen T-Roc were excellent, with no significant weaknesses. Apparently the best impression was left behind by the Volvo XC90 SUV - it received 98% less protection for adult occupants, and this model was great in terms of active safety. The autonomous emergency braking system has earned the maximum possible number of points.

We also had the same criticisms at Opel Crossland X.
