The battle for cleaner air

In addition to reducing emissions produced by motor transport to councilors American metropolis also focused on the issue of passive smoking. Town Hall, New York takes the view that people should not be forced to pass through a wall of smoke in public places. And because there is a risk of tobacco use do not even lightly apply here very strict laws aimed against smoking .

Also you do not like that you have to go through in puffs of smoke exhaled postávajícími around smokers? Citizens of New York fortunately not so worried. Under the new law there must not smoke in any public places - ie in public buildings, streets, parks, stadiums or on the beach.

What reasons led city councilors to these radical laws?
The ubiquitous cigarette stubs were a heavy burden for the environment because of its uneasy decomposition.
Butts were also a source of infection, especially for small children who like to grab a "taste" everything he sees.
Individuals exposed to secondhand smoke suffer from higher rates of asthma, allergies, cardiovascular diseases, lung cancer, etc.

Healthy Living

The fight against tobacco is joined by some owners of apartment buildings who promote "smoke-free housing" - it literally means living without smoking. In these houses, the use of tobacco is prohibited on public places and in the flats, which implies many advantages for owners and tenants.
The absolute ban on smoking in homes leads to a significant reduction in the risk of fire.
Children living here less frequently suffer from allergies, asthma, bronchitis , lung and middle ear.
Clean air improves the function of the respiratory and cardiovascular system.

Life in homes without tobacco provides many other benefits, as evidenced by the growing popularity of this form of housing in all major cities of the United States of America.
Cigarettes disappear from stores

City leaders are also focused on reducing cigarette sales in supermarkets and pharmacies. Cigarettes in a pharmacy while not no joke - United States of America is the only country in the world where you really can buy cigarettes at this point. Despite strict anti-tobacco campaign is still about 50% of pharmacies in New York this range offers. In the future, however, at least within the city, going to the complete disappearance of this trend.

New Yorkers are new laws very satisfied. This may be the impetus for management of other large cities, not only across the pond, but here in Europe. Maybe one day even in our small country will see a healthier and cleaner air without the ubiquitous tobacco smoke.
