Can you first aid? You should ... You can save your life!

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), a first aid in case of blood circulation and breathing, should be among the basic skills of each of us. Failure to provide first aid may under certain circumstances even classified as a crime. Do not worry, you will learn to save a life, too.

When the heart stops beating, interruption in the supply of oxygenated blood damage the brain within minutes. Concerned for 8-10 minutes may even die.

First aid can most easily mastered in a certified course. There will also learn how to use AEDs - automated external defibrillator. If you're not sure first aid is essential to call the emergency line. The dispatcher will be on the phone to give precise instructions on how to proceed.

What and thens

Before you begin, make sure there is no danger (or yourselves).
Is the person you are saving, conscious or unconscious ?? Try it loudly or reach out to him gently shake. If signs of life, call for help.
Call for Help (line 155 or 112). If you are on the site of two rescuers, one of you calling a hotline, while the other begins CPR. When you are alone, call first. Remember to bring the dispatcher where you are! The orientation can be used as the unique number on the lampposts.
Begin CPR! If the AED is available, use it as instructed.
Restored the blood circulation ?? If not, push your chest! If you do not AED, begin chest compression immediately.

Alphabet of life

First aid procedure is summarized in the first three letters of the alphabet and is based on the English names. As thus airway (respiratory tract), B for breathing (respiration) and C as compressions (compression or chest compressions). If you lay people and you have never been trained in first aid, you should know that according to the new recommendation is especially needed to launch indirect heart massage.

C - chest compressions - to restore circulation

For success is key start early and continuous chest compressions.
Kneel on the side to an unconscious person.
Perform indirect heart massage: place the wrist of one hand into the center of the chest bone (on the connector nipples), to lay this hand wrist with the other hand. Keep your arms outstretched, shoulders above the palms.
The weight of the upper body, start chest compressions to a depth of 5-6 cm per minute 100-120krát!
If you are not trained in CPR, continue the massage, until it reaches summoned help. If you are trained, continue to control the airway.

A - airway - release the airways
After 30 chest compressions to release the airways. Place the palm face and gently Tilt head backwards. Then the other hand, gently lift the chin up and open the airway.

Make sure the person is breathing. See if the chest rises and if you hear normal breath. Attention gasping or gasps mark is not normal breathing. If you are trained in first aid and the person is not breathing normally, begin breathing from the lungs into the lungs.

B - breathing - breathing from the lungs into the lungs

Remember: the ratio of chest compressions and breaths in an adult is 30: 2!
Close your fingers nasal cavity and attach mouth to mouth to an unconscious person.
Give two breaths! After the initial inspiration, make sure the chest rises. If not, loosen the airways and give another breath.
Continue chest compressions at a ratio of 30 compressions: 2 breaths.
Continue CPR until the arrival of aid.

First aid child

Administering first aid for adult and child are similar. But it depends on the child's age. The basic differences are:
If you are like saviors themselves, in the first step resuscitujte.
First, perform artificial 5 breaths. If the child does not appear signs of life, begin to massage.
Depress the lower half of the sternum and the breath from the lungs to the lung in a ratio of 15: 2. The frequency is 100 to 120 compressions per minute, depth of compression is at least one third the depth of the chest.
After one minute of CPR, stop and call for help, then continue resuscitation.
Once the AED is available, use it and set the CHILD (do not use in children under 1 year).
Continue until help arrives.

This article is a summary of the most basic principles of first aid. To make it easier to remember you can search and image algorithms or simple charts with the best practices.
